To the business and communities of Pemberton, Whistler, Lil’wat Nation and D’Arcy:
The Royal Canadian Legion Pemberton Branch would like to take this opportunity to wish you health and happiness during the holiday season and to thank you for your continued support over the last few months.
The generosity of the general public during the Poppy Campaign raised just over $13,000. These funds are held “in trust” and may only be used to support veterans and their dependents. We are very grateful that our communities support the Poppy Campaign and allow the local branch to continue to support veterans and their families both locally and within the Lower Mainland.
We have been so grateful for the kind and generous donations so many of you have made towards our branch. In mid-September we held a bottle drive, we raised over $2,100, which was much needed as we had some equipment issues that had to be dealt with. We were also pleased to receive a donation of funds from the SLRD and Pemberton Women’s Institute which have allowed us to replace our equipment.
Our Friday night dinners and Meat Draws (open to Legion members and their guests) continue to be hugely successful, dinners, often selling out within the hour. The funds raised from the meat draw (gaming funds) are returned to the community and allow the Pemberton branch of The Royal Canadian Legion to support programs such as the Community Care at Christmas and the Signal Hill Lunch program.
The continuance of the Royal Canadian Legion Pemberton depends on our membership, the work of the many volunteers and the support of our community. We look forward to welcoming you into our family; anyone can become a member.
Our mission is to serve veterans, including serving military and RCMP members and their families, to promote remembrance, and to serve our communities and our country. Our lounge is open daily (to members and guests) from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. (later, if conditions warrant it).
Come and enjoy a hockey game on the big screen TV, challenge your friends to a game of pool or darts. Membership is just $50 per year. You have access to some great member benefits as well as being part of a national organization that advocates for veterans.
