New water park opens in Pemberton

The new Pemberton water park, located on the community centre grounds on Cottonwood Street, opened for the first time on Thursday (Aug. 11). The park is now open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and it's free to use.

The water park is one of several new recreation amenities to open in Pemberton in recent months. Designed to appeal to a range of ages, the park includes features suited to toddlers, youth and families.

The project was a joint financial effort between the Village of Pemberton and Sqamish-Lillooet Regional District that includes money obtained from the Area C WedgeWoods amenity fund. The budget for the facility was $200,000.

The water park was originally scheduled to open in early June but there were some delays in getting the plans finalized and all the necessary approvals in place.
