Whistler businesses named as SBBC Award finalists

A total of four Whistler businesses have been named finalists for the 2015 Small Business BC (SBBC) Awards in five categories.

Nonna Pia’s Balsamic Reductions were shortlisted for the Premier’s People’s Choice and Best Company categories. Whistler also had two finalists in the Best Employer category with Canadian Wilderness Adventures and RDC Fine Homes both making the cut. Infinity Enterprises Group was listed as one of the top businesses in the Best Immigrant Entrepreneur category. All finalists will be attending the 12th Annual Small Business BC Awards on Feb. 26 at the Pan Pacific Vancouver, where the winners will be announced. Premier Christy Clark and Minister of State for Tourism Naomi Yamamoto will be presenting special messages.

TELUS Winter Classic raises $320,000

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation (WBF) managed to raise a record $320,000 for Sea to Sky charities during the 22nd TELUS Winter Classic, which took place Jan. 24 – 25.  

“We smashed our previous record of $280,000, raising over $320,000 for local charities and I couldn’t be happier,” said Mei McCurdy, executive director  of the WBF, in a press release.
“The support we receive from both our corporate and community supporters continue to be phenomenal, not to mention our volunteers and the Whistler Blackcomb staff who go above and beyond for this event. It is a true testament to the heart of our community and I’m truly humbled by all the support we receive.”

Sea to Sky non-profit organizations are now able to apply for funding to the WBF for its next intake period of April 1. Go to whistlerblackcomb foundation.com for application details.

Gateways, Portals, Connection and Wayfinding survey open until Feb. 4

Over 70 participants attended the Resort Municipality of Whistler’s (RMOW) Gateways, Portals, Connection and Wayfinding open house on Jan. 21 to learn about key Whistler Village revitalization projects. To review the material from the open house and complete a survey on any of the sections that interest you head to  whistler.ca/municipal-gov/special-projects before Feb. 4 at noon.
