The traditions of Halloween as we know it has it’s roots in the Celtic Witch’s New Year’s Day known as Samhain. All Hallow’s Eve became Halloween which marks final harvest harvest of the season and is the night before Samhain. The Celtic folk would put out food and offerings to attract the spirits of their ancestors, which evolved to Jack O’laterns and tall pointy hats were high fashion during the late Middle Ages. The scary costumes we see today were symbolic of deceased loved ones. Samhain is a magical and enchanted night to connect with the spirit world and receive blessings from our ancestors as it's the time when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest.
The aspect of the Goddess present at Samhain is the Crone, also known as Hektate, whom is depicted as the fearful wicked witch and offers us wisdom, balance, compassion, transformation, intuition and healing laughter.
On November 1st, the traditional day of Samhain, Divinity Dancers are invited to join Nolita Ananda at the Spa at Nita Lake Lodge for a Samhain Witch’s Ritual to honor our ancestors and pay homage to The Great Mother. Please come dressed in a black witch’s dress symbolic of Samhain or dressed in orange or red, the fire colors of the sun that are said to attract light. Please also bring with you a family heirloom for the altar if you have one available.
Women Only Please
