Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (11,877.72 up 66.34 points):

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Up 13 cents, or 4.35 per cent, at $3.12 on 13,782,344 shares. The plane and train manufacturer's stock lifted after five days of decline and reaching its lowest closing level since March 2009 on Thursday.

Poseidon Concepts Corp. (TSX:PSN). Fluid handler. Down 26 cents, or 5.20 per cent, at $4.74 on 10,547,551 shares. The Calgary-based company's stock continued to plunge a day after reporting weaker quarterly results and lowered earnings and spending expectations for the remainder of the year.

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurer. Down a penny, or 0.08 per cent, at $11.93 on 3,421,174 shares.

Long Run Exploration Ltd. (TSX:LRE). Oil and gas. Up 37 cents, or 8.81 per cent, at $4.57 on 3,382,710 shares. The petroleum producer's stock got a boost from news that it sold about $180 million in non-core assets Thursday.

Research In Motion Ltd. (TSX:RIM). Wireless technology. Up 43 cents, or 4.89 per cent, at $9.23 on 3,142,935 shares. Information technology was up 1.59 per cent.

Aura Minerals Inc. (TSX:ORA). Miner. Up two cents, or 7.69 per cent, at 28 cents on 3,015,219 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,235.34 up 12.64 points):

Petroamerica Oil Corp. (TSXV:PTA). Oil and gas explorer. Up 3.5 cents, or 12.96 per cent, at 30.5 cents on 7,588,188 shares.

Pinecrest Energy Inc. (TSX:PRY). Up 17 cents, or 9.71 per cent, at $1.92 on 6,722,589 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Arbor Memorial Services Inc. (TSX:ABO.B). Funeral services operator. Up 41 cents, or 1.31 per cent, at $31.81 on 16,126 shares. The Toronto-based company's shareholders have approved a takeover deal with an investor group that values the funeral homes and cemetery operator at $375 million.

Astral Media Inc. (TSX:ACM.A). Media. Up $2.14, or 5.06 per cent, at $44.40 on 1,227,257 shares. The company confirmed that it is talking with Bell (TSX:BCE), again, to rework a friendly takeover by the telecom giant. The CRTC killed the $3.4-billion deal last month.

Diamcor Mining Inc. (TSXV:DMI). Miner. Down a penny, or 0.78 per cent, at $1.27 on 100 shares. Jewellery retailer Tiffany & Co. said after markets closed Friday that it is investing $4 million in Diamcor. The company plans to use the money to buy equipment and expand its current in-field screening operations.
