BRUSSELS, Belgium - Police in Belgium say an officer was killed when he confronted a gunman who had killed his son.
The gunman also died in the shootout Sunday morning in the town of Bilzen, about 80 kilometres (50 miles) east of Brussels.
The officer was fatally wounded when he along with other officers entered the home where the gunman had just shot his teenage son, police said. The gunman's girlfriend escaped from the house unhurt.
