REGINA - Saskatchewan Finance Minister Rod Gantefoer says Canada's finance ministers will talk about ways to ensure people have enough money when they retire.

Gantefoer says the financial leaders will talk about pensions and the adequacy of retirement incomes when they meet in Whitehorse today.

Recent studies have shown that almost two-thirds of working Canadians have no workplace pension plan and almost a third of Canadian families have no retirement savings whatsoever.

But Gantefoer says Saskatchewan is in a unique position because it's the only province that already has a provincial pension plan.

He says the province has the "luxury" of seeing what develops at the meeting and won't rush into any new pension projects.

Gantefoer also says the meeting will give federal, provincial, and territorial finance ministers a chance to talk about budgets, compare notes and look ahead to the new year.
