Whistler RCMP are warning parents of a possible abduction attempt yesterday (Aug. 29) outside a local restaurant.
At 8 p.m. police received a complaint that 20 minutes earlier a man had approached two boys, age six and eight, and asked them if they would play with him in the woods. When the boys refused, the man called them a name and left without incident.
Police are looking for a white male with a medium build in his 50s. He is approximately five-feet ten-inches tall with balding blonde hair. He was clean shaven and could possibly be wearing glasses.
"Whistler RCMP conducted extensive foot and vehicle patrols in the village as soon as the complaint came in, and we are all keeping an eye out for anyone matching that description," Staff Sergeant Steve LeClair said. "No other incidents were reported but the RCMP would still like to remind the public to be vigilant and keep a watchful eye on any unattended children. Our members will continue patrols in an effort to identify this person and the motive for his behaviour."
The Question will report on developments to this story as they come available.
