In what could be the final Icon Gone event to be hosted by the Whistler Museum, eight Whistler locals went head-to-head in a debate to decide once and for all who or what is Whistler's greatest icon.
Hosted by Mo Douglas and judged by Whistler Museum president John Hetherington and Whistler Question Editor Tanya Foubert, the event last Wednesday (March 6) at Merlins was enjoyed by a packed house.
Those vying for the crown and their icons were Michel Beaudry who presented Stephan Ples, Emily Wood with Myrtle Philip, Steve Andrew with Dusty the horse, Mandy Rousseau with naked skiers, Angie Nolan with Toad Hall, Stephen Vogler with alcohol, G.D. Maxwell with dogs and Kevin Mikkelsen with the fixed-grip ski lifts.
While Nolan won the debate for the second year in a row, it may in fact be a healthy and active appreciation for local history that stole the show.
