On Wednesday (Feb. 20) Whistler resident Lillian Goldsmid was honoured for her years of work volunteering in the community since her and her husband Howard moved here in 1969.
West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country Member of Parliament John Weston was at the Whistler Public Library to present Goldsmid with a Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Photographer David Buzzard captured the event and spoke with her about receiving the honour and put together this slideshow.
The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal was created by the Government of Canada to mark Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's 60 years of service to this country. The medal honours significant contributions and achievements by Canadians. During the year of celebrations, 60,000 Canadians will be recognized.
