Two of hip hop’s legendary crews, the Wu-Tang Clan and D-Block, join forces to bring their grimy New York sound to Whistler next Wednesday (Feb. 27). The Wu’s Ghostface Killah and D-Block’s Sheek Louch released their anticipated self-titled debut in November after months of rumours that the pair would be working together. Learn oil painting with Lucy Collins
Both beginners and intermediate level painters can improve their prowess with oil painting on Thursday (Feb. 21) at the White Dog Whistler Gallery. From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Lucy Collins leads a workshop — and tailors her tutorial based on individual skill levels — with participants creating a thumbnail sketch, followed by a value study and ending with the final painting in three colours.

Papa Josh at Pemberton Hotel
If the toe-tapping and ever-groovy sound of funk music is what gets you moving, then head out to the Pemberton Hotel on Friday (Feb. 22) as Whistler’s Papa Josh brings out the old school riffs — as well as some modern grooves — starting at 10 p.m.
Storytelling Workshop
The Whistler Library’s community room hosts a creative workshop series about writing descriptive and emotive short stories on Saturday (Feb. 23) from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. For kids ages 12 to 16 years, this is the second of three workshops presented by Sherry Nakanishi, the creator of The Magical Butterfly, a book of original fables.

Yoga Cara Karma class
On Sunday (Feb. 24), Yogacara is running the next installment of its monthly "Pay-it-forward" Karma class. Essentially, the class payment is by donation to the local food bank, plus for each student that is on the mat, Yogacara donates $3 to the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program. The class starts at 11:45 a.m.
BallistiK Jam and ticket giveaway
Also on Sunday (Feb. 24), DJ Test Pilot, Briden and Miss KosmiK will be playing the best progressive house and breaks with a psychedelic twist at the Savage Beagle’s BallistiK Jam with a Believe Festival ticket giveaway. There’s no cover and doors open at 9 p.m.
Basket Weaving Workshop
Sunday is also the day to create your very own cedar basket at the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre (SLCC). From 1 to 3 p.m., Janet Jacobs teaches you the traditional uses and designs of inner cedar bark baskets. The cost is $75 and includes all materials plus admission to the SLCC exhibits.

Want to learn about “the greatest '70s rock icon who never was?”

The documentary tells the true story of a singer named Rodriguez — discovered in Detroit in the ‘60s — whose first album bombed, and he disappeared … only to find out years later he had become an icon in South Africa.
