Assault charges laid
Several charges were made against two Surrey males after numerous complaints about their behaviour in the village on Saturday night (Feb. 16).
Sgt. Rob Knapton said RCMP had various complaints about the aggressive and disruptive behaviour of the two males and attended to Village Square slightly before midnight for reports of them being involved in an assault.
“It looks like on individual held down a male while the other punched him repeatedly,” Knapton said.
He added one male assaulted an auxiliary police officer while being arrested and uttered threats against another male.
The 26 and 29 year olds were held in cells overnight and released with conditions including to not return to Whistler Village.
However, Knapton said at least one person recorded on video the assault in this incident and police are asking for their help.
“We are interested in talking to that person as it may assist in our investigation,” he said.

Party complaint leads to charges
Early Sunday morning (Feb. 17) police attended a residence in the 4300 block of Northlands Boulevard after a resident called in a complaint of a loud party in their own home.
Knapton said when officers arrived they located a large bag or marijuana that was seized and everyone at the party was sent on their way.
He said charges are being considered, however, later that morning the complainant called RCMP again to report that their fellow resident then broke down their door and assaulted them. A 29-year-old Whistler male was charged with assault and mischief and released with conditions to have no contact with the victim.
More fraud
Several more incidents of fraud were reported to RCMP over the past week including rental, debit and credit card scams.
On Tuesday (Feb. 12) a report of debit card fraud was reported to RCMP after $2,000 in purchases were made on a bank account after its owner used it at an ATM according to Knapton.
On Thursday (Feb. 14) a potential incident of credit card skimming was reported with $10,000 removed from the American card in the Whistler area from the complainant’s account.
On Sunday (Feb. 17) a report was received that a debit card’s information had been obtained illegally in Whistler and $500 removed from the bank account.
On Monday (Feb. 18) a report of rental fraud over Craigslist was reported with $1,000 taken in the transaction in relation to a residence on Northlands Boulevard.
B&Es reported
On Friday (Feb. 15) a business was reported broken into on the 4400 block of Blackcomb Way. The break in occurred between some time prior, said Knapton, and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
On Saturday (Feb. 16) a break and enter was reported to have happened the night before to a residence on Lake Crest Lane. Knapton said tools were taken.
Threats over Facebook
Knapton said on Saturday RCMP received a report of threats being made over the social media site Facebook against a local resident.
He said the suspect was from the Lower Mainland and was arrested the next day and charges.
