Whistler RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect who was seen masturbating in public over a month ago.
Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair said a sketch artist met with an employee of a Marketplace retail store who witnessed a man peering at her through the store's window and clearly masturbating on Jan. 13 at 5:47 p.m.
At the time the witness said she saw the man's face and could recognize him again and met with a sketch artist to produce the composite drawing released Monday (Feb. 18).
That suspect is described as being: a white male in his mid to late 30s, approximately six feet tall, clean shaven, dark eyebrows, medium build (160 to 180 pounds), wearing a dark toque, black zip-up jacket possibly with white lining or white undergarment under the jacket and wearing dark pants or jeans.
The incident occurred two days after a similar one on Jan. 11 in the 4600 block of Blackcomb Way. Witnesses reported a white male in his 30s wearing a dark jacket and toque masturbating on a pathway in the woods.
LeClair said it is unclear at this time if the incidents are related.
"We don't know for sure, but certainly we are open to the fact they could be related," he said. "Certainly it is concerning if this kind of behaviour escalates into a physical confrontation."
He added that typically it is believed that the person who engages in this type of behaviour will continue until caught.
