The Adele Campbell Gallery hosts a special exhibition from Laura Harris — one of the venue's signature artists — on Saturday (Feb. 2) from 5 to 8 p.m. called Courageously Calm.
Harris is a fourth generation Vancouver “Islander” whose lush and expressive paintings practically leap off the canvas with gorgeous colours and textures.

Georgina Farah Solo Art Exhibition
Bowen Island artist Georgina Farah will have her meticulously rendered oil paintings of B.C.'s unique landscapes in a solo exhibit at the Nita Lake Lodge Train Station Gallery on Friday (Feb. 1) from 6 to 9 p.m.

Dream on Gentlemen
Last week, the ladies got a night out at an all-male revue of exotic dancers in the resort. Well, turnaround is fair play they say, so Thursday night (Jan. 31) the dudes get to call a “guy's night,” and head to Moe Joe's for Dream On Gentlemen. Totem pole carving demo
Also on Saturday, master Sts'ailes First Nations carver Lek'hoosh (Arnie) Leon is at the Mountain Galleries where he will present a fascinating and memorable live totem pole carving demonstration.

Snowslam 4
Merlin's is the place to be on Saturday night, as six of Canada's best emerging and established punk bands hit the stage for the fourth annual Snowslam starting at 9 p.m. Featured acts are Choke, Precursor, Raised by Apes, Shockload, Slush and Cliffjumper; Snowslam 4 is a must-see show for any fans of the genre.

Layers art show
Beginning Monday (Feb. 4), Scotia Creek Gallery at Millennium Place presents a month-long exhibit called Layers. The art exhibition features a look at the art process, rather than the art itself. For the showing, artists Nasser Ghaderi, Sarah Northcott and Kedrick James use acrylic, photographic images and other forms of media to expose and hide aspects of their art.

Natural remedies and first aid
The Pemberton Community Centre is offering a natural home remedies and first aid class on Monday (Feb. 4) and Tuesday (Feb. 5) at 2 p.m. The course teaches new and old ways for treating all sorts of ailments. Natural depression prevention and recovery
Also on Monday and at the Pemberton Community Centre is a natural depression prevention and recovery program for people battling depression or who know someone in that state. The program, which has been offered across North America, offers tools for restoring health and wellbeing.

Games Night
Remember the days before video games and 175 channels of nothing on television?
Head to the Whistler Public Library on Monday to relive those days during a fun, Games Night event at 7 p.m. The evening features old favourites and brand new board games, plus prizes, refreshments and the chance to meet new Whistler friends. Best of all, the event is free to attend and no registration is required.

Social Media 101
The Whistler Public Library is also hosting a Social Media 101 workshop on Tuesday (Feb. 5) from 6 to 8 p.m. The session teaches how to tweet on Twitter, become a fan on Facebook and pin your favourites on Pinterest and more. Green Drinks
The next Green Drinks event happens on Wednesday (Feb. 6) at Black's Pub from 8 to 10 p.m. The informal and unstructured events are social networking evenings for those with an “open-mind and interested in discussing about the state of our environment.” The concept originated in North London in 1989 and it has been happening on the first Wednesday of every month in Whistler since 2007.
It's another great way to meet new and interesting people in the resort, plus there's free Granville Island beer and appies with a donation to AWARE.
