Dear Editor,
Too much talk about what kind of sales tax we should have when everybody knows that sales tax of any kind is expensive to collect and unfair to those of lesser income.
The only good tax is income tax. All else only puts the price up on whatever you buy — a light bulb or a house. We have many fees for government services from departments which already exist and are already being paid for.
Right after the B.C. and federal governments cut income tax for those who can best afford it, they both declared they were short of funds. The Chamber of Commerce is putting on the face of helpful on how to handle the sales tax changes. It needs to be advocating for the elimination of all inflationary sales taxes.
