If youíre looking for a little more beefcake in your life (and really, who isnít?), check out Whistler Exposedís first ever menís calendar, which launched Wednesday (Dec. 26) and features 13 local dreamboats doing stuff with their shirts off.
The idea sprang from the award-winning and ever popular womenís calendar, which launched in 2010 and is now sold in over 200 stores nation-wide, with negotiations in the works to expand into 900 additional stores throughout North America.
ďI had been a cheerleader with the BC Lions, worked with other dance teams and had been in calendars before and I always wanted to produce my own,Ē said Whistler Exposed founder Shannen Carlson. ďWe decided to expand the brand and, due to a lot of popular demand, to try a menís calendar.Ē
All the hunks appearing in the inaugural menís calendar are local boys, or at the very least spend a significant amount of time in Whistler.
ďWeíve got 13 local men, popular guys in the hospitality industry, a couple pro skiers, just people that are well-known around town,Ē said Carlson.
Some of the participants from last yearís Mr. Whistler contest offered their chiselled good looks for the calendar, while others Adonises were approached specifically for the job.
All 13 of the hunks of burning love were in attendance at the calendar launch party Wednesday, at Tommy Africaís, where they were auctioned off to the highest bidder, with all proceeds going to charity.
ďPeople bid on the models for a dinner date or a ski tour or one of the many prizes that were donated, like a massage,Ē said Carlson.
Like the womenís version, Whistler Exposed will donate 100 per cent of the menís calendar sales to the Canadian Spinal Cord Research Organization. The womenís calendar has raised over $20,000 for the organization since it launched.
