Dear Editor,
Thanks to the Whistler Sliding Centre for putting on the Fast Food event on Dec. 10. Apart from raising a huge amount of money for the local food banks, it also gave a lot of locals the opportunity to have a sliding experience at a very reasonable price. I've already recommended the experience to every single person who asked me about the skeleton.
Putting 300 people down a sliding track in one day is a huge challenge. From start to finish it was super smooth. All the staff and volunteers knew exactly what they were doing and were enthusiastic, but also calm and reassuring for those (including myself) who were nervous. Kudos for such a well-organized event. I don't know the name of the guy who was putting people on sleds for the 3 p.m. group, but that guy deserves special recognition. A super scary experience made a little less frightening by his calm, friendly manner. He brought a sense of humour to the occasion that was calming — impressive to still be so good-humoured after such a long day.
Thank you – thank you – thank you. You're an asset to Whistler.
