The lights of Hollywood are shining brightly in Whistler this week with the opening of the Whistler Film Festival on Wednesday night (Nov. 28) with Canadian director Michael McGowan's film Still starring James Crowmwell, who attended the screening.
A wide variety of films, from dramas, horrors, comedies, the Gkids animation showcase and documentaries to choose from.
Tonight the talented Rashida Jones is in the spotlight for an informal conversation before receiving the festival's Trailblazer Award. Afterwards the film Celeste & Jesse Forever will be screened. Jones co-wrote the script along with actor Will McCormack, who will also be attending. Following that is the Western Canadian premiere of Anna Karenina.
On Friday night (Nov. 30) the event that has everyone in Whistler buzzing, actor Daniel Radcliffe will be at Millennium Place for an intimate conversation about his career and the release of three highly anticipated films and return to the London's West End stage in 2013.
Saturday night features the second highest grossing Canadian film of the year, Omerta, at the Whistler Conference Centre. The closing gala on Sunday (Dec. 1) will feature the world premiere of The Sheepdogs Have It All, a documentary following the rise of this Saskatoon band.
