With Whistler gearing up for another successful winter season, there's a jam-packed schedule of activities slated for Nov. 22 to 25, just after the opening of Whistler Blackcomb this weekend.
“The Winter Kick-Off weekend is a great way to start the winter season,” said Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden in a municipal release. “There is something for everyone with concerts, street entertainment, fireworks, and Bizarre Bazaar, in addition to the excitement of the start of the ski and snowboard season.”
Guests and residents can hit the slopes with a bang on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. with a fireworks display to mark the start of the season at Skier's Plaza at the mountain base.
The same day marks the start of Bizarre Bazaar, where attendees can shop for the perfect gift for the holiday season with over 100 artisans from around B.C. offering uniquely crafted paper goods, food, ceramics, jewelry, clothing and much more at the Whistler Conference Centre, running from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 25).
On Friday (Nov. 23) and Saturday, the Whistler Sliding Centre will host the Viessmann IBSF World Cup Bobsleigh and Skeleton competition. Tickets are available at the Visitor's Centre in the Village.
To cap off a busy Saturday, the Whistler Arts Council Performance Series continues with a performance by New Brunswick singer-songwriter David Myles, with local gal Ali Milner opening. The show starts at 8 p.m. at Millennium Place. General admission is $25 and tickets are available at the venue or online at www.artswhistler.com.
