Dear Editor
So, in 90 minutes law enforcement officers ticketed sixty drivers who were texting or talking on cellphones while driving.
The tickets were $167 each, times 60 and that equals $10,020. A tidy sum, especially for one and a half hours of surveillance.
ICBC relates that undo care and attention is now the third leading cause of accidents and is soon to be making a run for the top spot, ahead of alcohol-related causes.
One of the busiest and most dangerous corners in Whistler is the south Nesters Plaza entry off Highway 99.
This could be a gold mine for provincial coffers as I have seldom seen drivers not using cellphones while driving through the stop signs here.
Possibly we could have a community fundraiser for the food bank and WAG, for example, if we staked out more areas. The daycare at 5 p.m. is a must — a fatality is but a breath away.
