My girlfriend Kasey and I were traveling on the Greyhound from Vancouver to Whistler yesterday (Monday, June 18), when our bus driver took off without us during a break at Squamish. All our luggage, including computers and passports, were on the bus. We couldn't believe he left after just two minutes when he said we were stopping for five.
We ran after the bus to no avail, so we asked two men if they knew where the next stop was. Brothers Hans and Peter (I think it was Peter) told us it was a 10-minute trip down the highway and wished us the best. We were looking for a taxi and considering our other options when they pulled up beside us a few minutes later in their truck and told us to jump in. They sped us off to the bus depot down the road, and fortunately we made it to the bus with a minute to spare before it took off to Whistler!
When I told the driver the story, he was completely unaware we were missing (despite there only being 10 people on the bus), and didn't apologize.
But thank you so much to Hans and Peter, the German immigrants (been here since the '60s) with big Canadian hearts!
