The remains of the limousine that exploded following a head-on crash near Function Junction on Jan. 28 lie at the side of Highway 99. The CBC is reporting the 19-year-old truck driver who caused the crash admitted to using LSD and drinking.

CBC News is reporting that the 19-year-old pick-up truck driver who caused a fatal crash with a limousine near Whistler on Jan. 28 was high on LSD and had consumed more than 10 cans of beer in the hours before the crash.

Sourcing court documents, the CBC report says the driver, a Calgary resident, told police he took two doses of LSD a few hours before the crash and he doesn't remember anything about the incident.

When the pick-up crossed the centre line near Function Junction at about 11:30 p.m., it crashed into an oncoming limousine, causing it to explode. The limo driver, 54-year-old Shafiqur Rahman of Vancouver, was killed.

RCMP are still investigating and were awaiting toxicology results for the driver, who suffered only minor injuries in the crash. Though the driver has not yet been charged, potential charges include dangerous driving causing death and impaired driving causing death.

Stay tuned to The Question as more information becomes available.
