Organizers have extended the nomination deadline for Whistler’s Citizen of the Year, and are partnering with the Whistler Arts Council on an event to honour the nominees and announce the winner.
The Citizen of the Year nomination deadline has been pushed back to Sept. 24 at 4 p.m., Kerry Chalmers, executive director of the Community Foundation of Whistler (CFOW), said last year in an email to The Question.
The Citizen of the Year award is given to an outstanding community member who contributes volunteer time to enhance the quality of life in Whistler. Nominees must be for an individual; couples may be submitted as separate nominees. The person can be of any age and may reside outside Whistler, but his or her volunteer contributions must be to the Whistler community. Volunteer efforts may be in one activity or organization or to a variety of efforts.
“This year we are partnering with the Arts Council on their ‘Whistler — Celebrating Our History’ event, to be held on Saturday, Nov. 6,” Chalmers wrote. “We will feature Citizen of the Year nominees at the event and will also announce the winner.”
Nomination forms are available on the CFOW website, www.whistlerfoundation.com. For more information visit the website or phone (604) 935-8080.
