Dear Editor,
Re. “Studies part of a more mature relationship,” Editorial, Question, Aug. 26.
I want to commend The Question for its balanced coverage of local land-use issues involving First Nations and also for the astute editorial that provided the context to these stories. You accurately described the time of transition we are currently in with regard to First Nation relations. This time of transition can create conflict between different interests as we are forced to reconcile the legal reality of aboriginal title and rights with outdated (or non-existent) and underfunded (or not funded) land-use approval processes. As we muddle through this new reality, I hope that people can see and appreciate the larger societal changes going on. The objective of these changes — a just and respectful country — is something all Canadians can be proud of.
