Whistler Blackcomb (WB) officials this week launched sales of dual-mountain season’s passes for 2010-’11, and an unlimited adult, dual-mountain season pass purchased between now and Oct. 11 will set you back $1,349 — $250 more than last year but less than either of the previous two non-Olympic years.
The early-bird price announced on Monday (Aug. 30) represents a $350 savings compared to what it will cost after the deadline. Dual-mountain season’s passholders have unlimited access to the Peak 2 Peak Gondola year-round, in addition to numerous other perks.
“This season, guests will be able to take full advantage of their season pass all the way from November to May,” Stuart Rempel, WB senior vice president of marketing and sales, said in a statement. “After last season’s epic snowfall and hosting the world’s biggest party, there is a huge pent-up demand for skiing and riding for the upcoming winter. The season pass gives guests the freedom to really maximize their time on the slopes throughout the winter season.”
The Olympic winter of 2009-’10 was the second-snowiest on record, with a total snowfall of 1,492 centimetres (587 inches). November 2009 was the snowiest month on record with 560 cm (220 inches).
Early-bird prices for unlimited seniors (age 65 to 75) passes for the upcoming season cost $699, a $200 savings over those purchased after Oct. 11. Super seniors (75 and over) pay $149. Youth passes (age 13 to 18) cost $615, while Child (age 7 to 12) passes cost $369.
The early-bird unlimited adult dual-mountain pass price of $1,349 for the 2010-’11 season compares to $1,099 for the 2009-’10 season, when WB hosted the Olympics in February and the Paralympics in March. Early-bird pass purchasers paid $1,399 and $1,529 in 2007-’08 and 2008-’09, respectively.
This year, the men’s and women’s Olympic alpine skiing courses will be open for all to ski and ride.
Unlimited season passholders also enjoy 20 per cent discounts at mountaintop restaurants at the Roundhouse Lodge, the Rendezvous and Glacier Creek Lodge; 20 per cent discounts at all WB retail shops and ski/snowboard rental shops; $50 of ski and snowboard school registrations (daily or multi-day), $100 off Whistler Heli-Skiing outings; two-for-one Fresh Tracks Breakfast tickets until Dec. 24; and free summer sightseeing.
Opening Day is scheduled for Nov. 25, 2010. Early-bird unlimited season passes can be purchased by visiting whistlerblackcomb.com/early or calling 1-866-218-9687.
Also on Monday, WB officials launched a website redesign, adding a new feature page called “The Movement.” The social-media-focused page aggregates ski and snowboard industry news, Whistler info, photos and videos from across the web and connects guests to WB’s main social media channels, officials said.
