Pemberton-area residents interested in learning more about invasive plant species and helping to limit their spread are invited to a community weed pull this week.
The event, organized by Stewardship Pemberton and the Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council (SSISC), takes place today (Thursday, Sept. 2) from 9 a.m. to noon at the pedestrian bridge near Highway 99, next to Monte Vale townhomes in Pemberton.
The work, to be done at the Arn Canal and highlight some of the invasive plant concerns in the area. The canal has been the site of ongoing work to restore streamside habitat restoration of streamside and upland vegetation aimed at restoring its natural vegetation. The work will take place rain or shine.
Those who would like to help are asked to bring work gloves and, if possible, tools. Refreshments will be supplied.
