LUNA drive-in features Woodstock, Heathers

VILLAGE VIBE WITH STEVEN HILL

Like, peace and oh my god, man – LUNA’s biannual drive-in event at Blackcomb Base II on Friday, Sept. 3, features a double bill with the movies Taking Woodstock and Heathers.

Beginning at 8:30 p.m., the event kicks off with the hilarious movie Taking Woodstock, with the Daily Show’s (and Comedy Network’s) Demetri Martin as a down-on-his-luck interior designer living at home with his parents who gets swept up in a little rock festival called Woodstock at his neighbour’s farm.

Learn how the culture and generation-defining festival came to be, from behind the scenes. Based on a true story.

At 10:45 p.m., the dark and mean-spirited film Heathers hits the screen, featuring Winona Ryder, Shannen Doherty and Christian Slater in the roles that launched their careers. It’s a classic film from the ’80s, inspiring girls around North America to start using the phrase, “What’s your damage?”

Ahhh… the ’80s.

Gates open at 7:30 p.m. and the films begin at 8:30 p.m. Entry is $20 per car, $7 per pedestrian and $5 per LUNA or Club Shred member. Popcorn and barbecue food is also available.

The event will be cancelled if it rains. For more info go to www.lunawhistler.com.

Best of all, the storytelling session with Chief Campbell is included in the admission to see all the SLCC exhibits, so make sure you get to the centre early to explore and discover.

The SLCC is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
