Whistler Blackcomb (WB) is paying tribute to Whistler’s Olympic and Paralympic legacies with a new display at the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain.

The display, announced in a statement issued on Saturday (Aug. 21), consists of photos and stories showcasing Olympic and Paralympic alpine athletes, the vibe and atmosphere in the Village and on the mountain, Didier Defago’s gold-medal-winning Rossignol skis as well as a replica, wood-carved medals podium.

It also celebrates the success of Canadian athletes, who won more gold medals than any country in Winter Olympics history, focusing on Sea to Sky athletes such as snowboardcross gold medalist Maelle Ricker and ski cross champion Ashleigh McIvor, along with local athletes Manuel Osborne-Paradis, Britt and Michael Janyk, Matthew Hallat and Robbie Dixon.

“We are very proud to have been the Official alpine skiing venue for the 2010 Games. To see such great performances from our local athletes here and in Vancouver was amazing and we want to share that with our guests,” said Stuart Rempel WB senior VP of marketing and sales.

“With so many great Olympic stories to tell and athletes to recognize from the region and around the world, we wanted to highlight their success while showing our pride as a host venue.”

In addition to the display in the Roundhouse and permanent Olympic rings above the Timing Flats in Creekside, there will be a sign at the finish line of the Dave Murray Downhill listing all gold medal winners of the Olympic and Paralympic alpine events on Whistler.
