Hilton Resort and Spa going to the dogs

Village Vibe with Steven Hill

Only in Whistler does a fancy fundraising dinner for homeless and abandoned animals have dogs sitting at the same table as their owners.

Whistler Animal Galore’s (WAG) eighth annual K9 Wine and Dine fundraiser, co-presented by the North Shore Credit Union, runs Aug. 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Hilton Whistler Resort and Spa.

The event features a gourmet three-course meal accompanied by vintage “Pinot Growlio” for the four-legged set, and a buffet for human patrons featuring the creations of the Hilton’s executive chef.

The fundraiser has a “red carpet” theme this year, so you’re encouraged to dress it up, wear your bling and make sure the dog looks fabulous.

Just so you know, all proceeds go toward helping WAG provide care to animals in need including veterinary care, spaying and neutering, training, socialization and re-homing services. They also support WAG’s programs that provide surgery, and emergency and critical care to special cases, the Financial Assistance for Neuter and Spay (FANS) program for low-income residents of the region, and ongoing wellness clinics for residents of Mount Currie.

Tickets are available from WAG at (604) 935-8364.
