Fundraising milestone reached

Dear Editor,

A huge thanks to Dusty's, in particular Josh Kearns, Mike Varrin and Paul Street for having Whistler Friends back at the Canadian National BBQ Championships this past weekend. This was our eighth year being a part of the event; doing participant registration, handing out event information, and selling tasters’ passes. Those little passes that we sell have become a hot item — in fact, so hot that we sold more than 1,900 of them during the weekend. At $5 each that means more than $9,600 was raised to support the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada. Thanks to all of you who purchased passes, and to the competitors for sharing their tasty creations!

A huge thank you also goes out to all of our volunteers — Tom, Sue, Bryan, Danielle, Madison, Sophie, Shona, Rachel, Nola, and Lisa. Joel Chevalier —for being such a support to our team over the weekend for all these years. Thanks also to Jody Warren (Hallett) for being our “staff” photographer and capturing images of the event. Together you are all truly making a difference by supporting research for a cure to Crohn's and colitis.

Whistler Friends has been holding fundraisers for the past eight years in Whistler, and this event at Dusty's brought us to a milestone. Thanks to Whistler's overwhelming generosity we have now raised more that $200,000 for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada and B.C. Children's Hospital Foundation over the years.

Watch for a new Whistler Friends event being announced in mid-August. It will make you move — we promise.
