Dear Editor,
Congratulations to local Pemberton resident Rachel Leverton, who set an active example for her whole community by participating in the recent Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.
Rachel was chosen to carry the Olympic torch after joining Sogo Active, a national youth physical activity program presented by Coca-Cola Canada in collaboration with ParticipACTION.
She is one of over 1,000 young Canadians chosen by Coca-Cola Canada as Olympic torchbearers in this 45,000-kilometre journey—the longest domestic torch relay in Olympic history.
Sogo Active aims to inspire all young Canadians to get more physically active by giving them the tools to search for active opportunities, track their own activity, access youth micro grants and support and lead their peers. Sogoactive.com is for all Canadians aged 13 to 19 and is coordinated in British Columbia by B.C. Recreation and Parks Association.
Congratulations, Rachel, for inspiring us all to be a healthier, more active country.
Sincerely,
Kelly D. Murumets
