Editor’s note: This is a copy of a letter to Mei McCurdy, executive director of the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation.
As we embark on 2010 we start our grant applications for the forthcoming year. This year we will not be applying to the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation for financial support. Instead, we wish to thank you wholeheartedly for all the generous support that the foundation has given the Nordics over the last three years.
In response to previous grant applications the foundation has helped us purchase timing equipment, uniforms, a digital video camera and a Thule box. This equipment benefits the local community by enabling our club to host professional local events, such as the Whistler Loppet and Coast Cup, and improves the standard of training that we deliver to our growing membership each year. Our expanding youth teams now proudly compete and represent Whistler at both local and away events.
Most recently your grant of $150,000 to the Passive House project for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games has secured the Whistler Nordics and WORCA a future home once the Austria Passive Haus is handed over to the RMOW. This generous grant will give our club a permanent home where we can continue to grow our youth and adult attendance and improve activities — leading to a healthy and happy community.
On behalf of our 261 members we thank you for your support. Our club members actively participate in your fundraising efforts by volunteering at the Telus Winter Classic and Telus Mountain Valley Golf Classic.
Non-profit organizations like ours would not be able to offer local youth and adults the activities and facilities that we do without your generosity and we look forward to a continued relationship with the foundation in the future.
