Costly campaign

Dear Editor,

Re. “Whistler’s $37.8M sewage plant upgrade complete,” Question, Jan. 21.

When Whistler Water Watch (a more appropriate name would have been Whistler Waste Watch) led the campaign to defeat the P3 treatment plant project, they equated waste and water. These are two totally separate services of the municipality. By equating them, they created a state of fear (W. Bush used the same tactics to get re-elected) to achieve their goal. The result was a sound P3 project was abandoned at a cost of millions to the municipality as well as millions more for the delay.
