Whistler council has scheduled a special meeting for this Thursday (Jan. 7) to consider fourth and final reading of a Westin Resort and Spa zoning amendment bylaw.
The meeting, which takes place at 9 a.m. in the Flute Room of Whistler Municipal Hall, also includes lawmakers’ acceptance of correspondence on a variety of issues. At 9:15 a.m., after the special meeting, there’s a closed-door session to discuss confidential matters.
The long-running Westin rezoning involves 552 square metres of gross floor area inside the hotel that has previously not been accounted for under Whistler’s zoning bylaws. All of the space is considered “back-of-house” and administrative space.
Last fall, because of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Whistler lawmakers voted to suspend regular meetings between Dec. 15, 2009, and March 23, 2010. Thursday’s meeting is the first “special” meeting to take place during that hiatus.
